Tummy Soothing Mint Tea

Tummy Soothing Mint Tea

When someone at our house gets sick, the first thing I do is turn to my tea/herb cupboard. We try to save OTC and prescription meds for when we really need them so when all of the boys caught a gastro bug this week, I pulled out one of my favorites: Tummy Soothing Mint Tea.  This tummy tea tastes great and can be used to help settle an upset tummy while recovering from an illness, stress, etc.

Tummy Soothing Mint Tea
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 handful of fresh mint leaves
  1. Bring water to a boil, using a small saucepan.
  2. Add the fresh mint leaves.
  3. Remove from heat & let it steep for about 5 minutes.
  4. Strain and serve.
To skip the straining step, use a tea ball! I make enough tea that I have several and really prefer the ones that come with a drip stand. You could also use a tea kettle to boil the water so everything can be done in a mug, if you are drinking it warm. To serve cold (or lukewarm for little kids), you can serve it over ice or refrigerate.

Note: This tea is designed to help soothe an upset stomach. It doesn’t address the underlying issue and is not meant to replace proper medical care.

  1. Love m grandma, she made me this tea when I was in a 50 degree drop from where I live to go see her. I drank fresh hot mint tea everyday and I never caught a sniffle. From 100 degrees to 39 in morning to 50 degrees of a high. One day to the next.

    • I don’t think I could help a temperature switch like that! When I went to visit my grandparents in the summer, I’d go from 70-90 degrees here to 90-110 degrees there and did fine. Coming back home, I felt cold while all my friends were complaining about how hot it was!
